Nebraska running back Emmett Johnson earned another national award on Tuesday afternoon, as he was named the Maxwell Award National Player of the Week for his performance against the UCLA Bruins.

Johnson put on a show in what was a big win for the program. He had 28 carries for 129 yards and a touchdown. He also made a major impact in the receiving game, catching three passes for 103 yards and two touchdowns. He was truly an all-around back in Saturday’s contest, as the Huskers were able to pick up a crucial seventh win of the season.

Johnson has been widely recognized as one of the top running backs in college football. Nebraska football coach Matt Rhule vouched for his running back’s place in the Heisman conversation. In addition, he was also named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, as the accolades keep trickling in.

The Minnesota native is having a special season for the Huskers, with two regular-season games left to play. It will be fun to see what he can do over the final couple of weeks.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers (7-3, 4-3) retake the field on Saturday, Nov. 22, when they travel to Pennsylvania to face the Penn State Nittany Lions (3-6, 0-6) in Happy Valley. The kickoff time and TV network have not yet been determined.
