Nebraska tight end believes new quarterback already making an impact

Nebraska tight end Luke Lindenmeyer is excited about quarterback Anthony Colandrea. Lindenmeyer spoke at Big Ten media days and gave his impressions of the quarterback.

Lindenmeyer was a key component of the Huskers' offense last season. He had a career year, recording 29 catches for 312 yards and two touchdowns. He established himself as a weapon on offense and a safety valve for the quarterbacks.

Colandrea joins Nebraska following a breakout junior year with the Rebels. The St. Petersburg, Florida, native finished the 2025 season throwing for 3,459 yards, 23 touchdowns, and nine interceptions with a 65.9 completion percentage.

The former Rebels' play earned him the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year award. Before UNLV, Colandrea played two seasons at Virginia. In 19 games, he totaled 4,083 passing yards, 26 passing touchdowns and 20 interceptions.

Lindenmeyer also views Colandrea as a weapon and is impressed by the quarterback's speed. In addition to his speed, Lindenmeyer also had some hilarious comments about his ability to throw the football, per News Channel Nebraska's Jake Bartecki.

"He zooms it. Like, the first pass he actually threw me in spring ball, I dropped it because it was zooming. Again, I got used to that, and so it kind of makes me get my head on a swivel. Like, he could throw it to me from anywhere. He can be scrambled out of the pocket—he’s like a squirrel back there—but knowing like I gotta get to my route fast. Like, everything he does is fast. His drops are fast, which is good. We need that. We need that speed. His pocket awareness is elite, and it’s having him being able to extend plays, and we can make some big plays on the scramble drill with him."

It will be exciting to see what Colandrea can do in this offense. His mobility, along with his strong arm, could provide for some excitement. The Huskers will need all the offensive firepower they can get, as they face some of the toughest opponents in the Big Ten this season.
