New Documentary Revisits Historic 2007 Kansas-Missouri Border War At Arrowhead
One of the most memorable games in Kansas football history is getting the documentary treatment.
“Armageddon at Arrowhead,” a new film produced by 96.5 The Fan afternoon host Carrington Harrison, focuses on the 2007 Border War matchup between No. 2 Kansas and No. 4 Missouri at Arrowhead Stadium.
The game remains one of the most significant in the long history of the rivalry. Kansas entered the matchup 11-0 under head coach Mark Mangino, while Missouri came in at 10-1 with both teams firmly in the national championship picture.
With a potential No. 1 ranking, a spot in the Big 12 Championship and national title implications on the line, the matchup became one of the biggest games ever played between the Jayhawks and Tigers.
Harrison said the documentary goes beyond simply retelling what happened on the field.
“The doc tells more than just that one individual game,” Harrison said. “It’s really a story of how Missouri potentially had their best team in 2007, Kansas had their best team in 2007, and these two teams just met up to play this incredible game at Arrowhead.”
Kansas’ 2007 team was led by quarterback Todd Reesing and a roster filled with future Ring of Honor players. The Jayhawks eventually finished the season 12-1 after defeating Virginia Tech in the Orange Bowl, capping one of the greatest years in program history.
Missouri won the Border War matchup 36-28, handing Kansas its first loss of the season before advancing to the Big 12 Championship.
The documentary is scheduled to debut Thursday, Aug. 27, at 7 p.m. CT at Screenland Armour Theater in Kansas City, Missouri. Harrison and several players from both teams are expected to appear at the screening.
With Kansas and Missouri renewing the rivalry again in the modern era, the documentary offers a timely look back at the night when the Border War reached its national peak.
