Taft football is officially under new leadership.

Taft announced the hiring of Rob Rachel as the football program’s next head coach, pending board approval. The announcement came in a Feb. 17 Instagram post.

In an interview with the Enquirer, Rachel said he understands the expectations for the football program are high but emphasized his leadership as a critical skill he brings to the table.

“First off, I’m going to be a role model for the kids. I’m going to carry myself in a manner where kids are going to know how a man should carry himself on and off the field,” Rachel said.

Rachel believes the Senators can continue to build on the success of recent years and thinks the sky is the limit at Taft.

“The expectations are that we make the playoffs every year and compete for state titles,” Rachel said.

Taft is coming off of an 11-1 season in 2025. The Senators’ previous head coach, Tyler Williams, departed for North College Hill at the conclusion of the season. Also departing was four-star quarterback/athlete and Indiana commit Monsanna Torbert Jr., who announced in December he would be transferring to Princeton.
