New York Jets News: Jets sitting Geno Smith for final preseason game

Good morning Gang Green Nation! My, my, how time flies. It seems like only yesterday the New York Jets were opening training camp for 2026. Tonight they will play their final preseason game, and by Sunday evening NFL teams will have to cut down their rosters to 53.
Tonight the Jets face the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium. Geno Smith and most of the Jets starters are not expected to play in this game, so we’re going to be treated to a scrubfest. Backups and backups to backups will be looking to put something good on tape to state their cases for an NFL roster spot, whether with the Jets or some other team. It’s not likely to produce compelling football. Hopefully the players can at least emerge from this final tuneup unscathed by serious injuries.
