No. 1 WR in South Carolina announces commitment

Wide receiver recruit Amare Patterson, who is a member of the class of 2027, has announced his commitment to the North Carolina Tar Heels over the South Carolina Gamecocks, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and Georgia Bulldogs.
"I will be taking my talents to North Carolina," Patterson said upon announcing his commitment. Patterson plans to major in architecture and build affordable housing in college.
Patterson valued the consistency since North Carolina offered him on May 26. The Tar Heels heard that Patterson committed to them earlier in the week on Wednesday. He joins a North Carolina recruiting class under coach Bill Belichick that is ranked No. 49 in the country. Patterson is the Tar Heels' No. 16 commitment in the 2027 recruiting cycle. He is North Carolina's top commitment in the 2027 class.
The four-star pass catcher plays high school football and runs track for Bluffton High School in Ridgeland, South Carolina. The 6-foot-1, 175-pound receiver is ranked as the No. 173 recruit in America, per 247Sports. Patterson is the fifth-best recruit in South Carolina and the No. 25 wide receiver in the country. The Bluffton star is the highest ranked wide receiver in South Carolina.
Patterson ran a 10.5-second time in the 100-meters. The pass catcher has elite speed and is shifty in the open field. During his junior year in high school, Patterson turned some screen passes into touchdowns and produced 48 receptions for 877 yards and 10 touchdowns. Patterson is a big play waiting to happen and has the potential to take his game to another level at UNC.
