Middletown (Del.) Appoquinimink four-star offensive tackle Layton von Brandt made an early commitment to Penn State, but that didn’t stick once the program moved on from longtime head coach James Franklin and his staff.
Over seven months after coming back on the board, von Brandt is ready to make another commitment. The blue-chipper will commit live on the Rivals YouTube channel on Monday, May 18, according to Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong.
He has four finalists: Auburn, Florida, Notre Dame and Penn State.
Von Brandt is the No. 75 overall prospect and No. 5 OT in the 2027 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all major recruiting media companies. He’s also the top-ranked recruit in Delaware.
The 6-foot-6.5, 285-pounder has done his due diligence since decommitting from PSU, taking visits and hearing out coaching staffs that have been hard after his pledge. According to the Rivals Recruiting Prediction Machine, however, one program looks to be in the lead.
This story will be updated.
