I think there’s a very real chance that if FSU simply makes a bowl game you will see Mike Norvell in 2027 but the former FSU ACC Player of the Year Danny Kanell says that if Mike Norvell does not win 8 games he will be fired:

Everyone outside of Tallahassee sems to believe that Mike Norvell is on the hotseat; some even expect him to get the coaching carousel started first.

So, how long of a leash does Norvell actually get? Long enough to burn through the buyout math, apparently, but not much further. Norvell probably won’t make it to November.

Despite the pressure, Norvell insisted during ACC spring meetings back in May that he expects 2026 to be “the best year of my life,” saying the adversity of the past two seasons in Tallahassee has made him a better coach. That’s certainly one way to look at it.  

But if Florida State stumbles through another disappointing season, 2026 still might end up being the best year of his life, especially when that buyout check clears

Earlier this week you voted and it looks like 52% of FSU fans expect FSU to be struggling to make a bowl or flirting with .500 while 48% of FSU fans are at least expecting somewhat of a bounce back year.

Poole would be a big victory for the ‘Noles as the most talented player on their board.
