AUBURN — In sore need of a pass-catching tight end, Auburn football made another notable addition Saturday, Jan. 10, signing North Carolina transfer Jake Johnson, a source confirmed to the Montgomery Advertiser.

Johnson, who has one season of eligibility remaining, spent two years each at Texas A&M and North Carolina, catching a combined 43 passes for 402 yards and five touchdowns. His sophomore season in College Station vaulted him into an eventual opportunity with the Tar Heels, as Johnson posted career-highs in receptions (24), receiving yards (235) and receiving touchdowns (4).

After a quiet Year 1 in Chapel Hill, Johnson saw a jump in production last season, catching 16 passes for 144 yards and one touchdown.
