Eau Claire North High School football coach Matt McGinnis announced Wednesday that he is stepping down after four years at the helm of the Huskies.
McGinnis met with coaches and players to personally inform them of his decision.
He has been with the North program for the last nine years, serving as the head coach for the last four. He ends his tenure with an 11-26 record and a 3-6 record last season.
North athletic director Michael Pernsteiner said in a statement, "Coach McGinnis has been a vital part of our football program for the past nine seasons, serving as head coach for the last four and as an assistant for five seasons prior to that. Throughout his tenure, he has worked tirelessly to build a competitive football program here at North. We are proud of the dedication and passion he has shown in guiding our team.
"Thanks to Coach McGinnis's commitment, North Football is now in an excellent position to move forward, and we are excited about the future of our program. We are confident that the foundation he has laid will continue to benefit our student-athletes and help the program build upon its recent success.
"We extend our gratitude to Coach McGinnis for his years of service and wish him all the best in his future endeavors."
Pernsteiner said the school will search for a new head coach immediately.
