Notre Dame at Purdue: Get to know the Boilermakers head coach

The US LBM Coaches Poll No. 3 ranked Notre Dame is set to face rival Purdue on the road this Saturday in another edition of the Battle for the Shillelagh Trophy.

The Fighting Irish have an all-time record of 61-26-2 against the Boilermakers. Marcus Freeman will face off against Boilermakers coach Barry Odom for the second straight season. Last year, Notre Dame defeated Purdue 56-30.

The Irish have won 10 of their last 11 meetings versus the Boilermakers since the mid-2000s. Purdue went 2-10 in its first season with Odom at the helm.

Odom, who was a linebacker at Missouri in 1996-99, had coaching stops at Mizzou and UNLV. From 2016 to 2019, he compiled a 25-25 record and had two bowl game appearances.

For the Rebels in the 2023 and 2024 seasons, he had a 19-8 record and appeared in a couple of bowl games. Odom guided UNLV to a 24-13 win over California in the 2024 LA Bowl.

Saturday’s game between the Irish and the Boilermakers will start at 2 p.m. ET and stream exclusively on Peacock.
