Notre Dame Football Free-For-All Mailbag
NCAAF College Football News, Photos, Stats, Scores, Schedule & Videos...
The Notre Dame offseason is firing on all cylinders and today, we had our free-for-all mailbag. So far this week, we've had our buy/sell/hold and talked through several key topics. On Wednesday, we recapped Marcus Freeman's press conference, ranked the offensive position groups, talked major recruiting sleepers and talked about the top quarterback battles going on across the country.
Today, we had our free-for-all mailbag where our daily listeners brought the heat once again. We answered questions about the recruiting trail which has heated up over the last couple of weeks, some favorite moments inside of Notre Dame Stadium and, of course, the occasional World War II question. You can listen to all of that and more during today's free-for-all mailbag on the Irish Breakdown Podcast.

Here are some of the questions we answered on today's show:
On The On-Field Results Translating To The Recruiting Trail…
"Look, we can talk stats all day long, but the biggest driving factor will be the overall results of the season. Notre Dame had the No. 1 ranked recruiting class last season and they didn't even make the playoffs. Imagine would it could be if they make another deep run or win the national title. CJ Carr's stats will help drive the conversation, but up and coming players in the 2027 and 2028 recruiting classes want to play for title contenders or championship winners. Notre Dame's on-field results will be a driving factor in their success on the recruiting trail over the next couple of seasons."
On Which Team Has The Toughest Schedule In 2026…
"There's a handful of team's in the discussion. I think you have to talk about Ohio State when talking about tough schedules this season. They have road games against Texas, Iowa, Indiana, USC and Nebraska and have home games against Illinois, Oregon and Michigan. They're definitely in the conversation. Texas A&M has a gauntlet of a schedule down the stretch. Starting on October 24, they play on the road against Alabama, on the road against South Carolina, home against Tennessee, on the road against Oklahoma and wrap up the regular season at home against Texas. They're in the conversation for me. I'd also include South Carolina in that conversation as well."
On The Worst College Football Prediction We've Ever Made…
"Unfortunately, there's a decent amount in this discussion. The ones that stick out have happened relatively recently. Back in 2020, I was confident that Notre Dame was going to beat Clemson in the ACC Championship game. I knew that Trevor Lawrence would be back, but DJ Uiagalelei played well against them during the regular season. Unfortunately I was wrong about that. Then, in 2024, I took Notre Dame's alternate spread at -21.5 against Northern Illinois in their home opener and they lost 16-14. That was another really bad prediction."
