Notre Dame football welcomed new defensive line coach Charlie Partridge to the program this offseason. With a tremendous reputation as a coach and a developer, it is exciting to think about the impact that Partridge could have with the Fighting Irish. He walks into a very talented room, including Boubacar Traore, Bryce Young, Keon Keeley, Francis Brewu, Tionne Gray, Jason Onye, and Armel Mukam.

Partridge is also considered to be a very recruiter, particularly for the stops he has been on. With that Notre Dame logo next to his name, and head coach Marcus Freeman assisting, there is no reason to believe that the Fighting Irish can’t be in contention for just about every defensive line target they like. An early player to know in the 2027 recruiting class is star Exton (Pa.) Downingtown East EDGE Abraham Sesay, one of the more gifted pass rushers in the class.

With so many top programs coming after Sesay, the Irish staff needs to be ready to fight for the Pennsylvania star. Notre Dame received some great news this week with Sesay finalizing a trip to South Bend. He will be heading to campus during the weekend of April 25th. That will offer a huge opportunity for Freeman and Co. to impress one of the toolsiest defensive ends in the 2027 class.

Notre Dame is in a great position right now with Sesay. How that visit goes will determine if the Irish remain in the lead heading into the summer.

Abraham Sesay’s recruiting background

Sesay is a four-star player and near-consensus top-100 recruit on each of the major recruiting platforms. On the 247 Sports Composite ranking, Sesay currently sits as the No. 80 overall player, the No. 10 EDGE, and the No. 5 player from the state of Pennsylvania for the 2027 recruiting class. Rivals is the highest on the Pennsylvania native right now, pegging him as the No. 35 overall player and No. 6 EDGE in the class.

The 6-5, 215-pound pass rusher has demanded the attention of some of the top programs in all of college football. Some of Sesay’s top offers include the Fighting Irish, Ohio State, Oregon, Alabama, Florida, Penn State, Ole Miss, Auburn, USC, Nebraska, Kentucky, South Carolina, Georgia Tech, Maryland, NC State, UNC, Boston College, Rutgers, Syracuse, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Wisconsin, Duke, and Northwestern, among others.

As a junior, Sesay put together a tremendous season for Downingtown East. The talented pass rusher recorded around 80 total tackles and 13 sacks. With long limbs and explosiveness, Sesay has the talent to develop into a big-time defensive end on the college level. As he continues to grow into his frame, there is no reason why he can’t become a stellar three-down player.
