Notre Dame football loses a linebacker to the transfer portal

The hits keep coming for Notre Dame football and the transfer portal, as Tuesday saw another solid contributor put his name in.
Linebacker and special teams star Preston Zinter has decided to move away from the program after playing the last three seasons as reported by Tyler Horka. He’ll have two left to play, as you have to assume that he’s going to look for a team that can get him on the field in a more prominent role.
Zinter entered the program as a 3-star athlete out of Massachusetts, and had multiple other solid offers. He very well could end up somewhere that doesn’t have the same prestige as Notre Dame to see the field more often. Interestingly enough, Matt Freeman is reporting that at least two teams are interested in him on the other side of the ball as a tight end / H-back.
We wish Preston the best as he looks for his new football home.

Nobody made more special teams appearances at Notre Dame in 2025 than Zinter. And he did it in 10 games.
There has to be a team out there that will get this guy on the field on defense. Or quite a few of them.https://t.co/1PhaPDeanKpic.twitter.com/tZKdrGDPpR
