Notre Dame has picked up another pickup talented player for its 2027 class, landing Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy linebacker Amarri Irvin. The Irish are now up to seven commits in the 2027 class and continue recruiting well in the South. The 6-0, 220-pound linebacker picked the Irish over a number of big time SEC programs.
Irvin had a strong season for the nationally ranked IMG squad, racking up 36 tackles, six tackles for loss and four sacks to go with three interceptions. The son of former Michigan State running back Sedrick Irvin, it's not surprising that the new Irish commit is a smart and instinctive inside linebacker. He's a rangy athlete that shows well in coverage despite not having great length. He plays an aggressive downhill game but also shows the ability to play in space and be disruptive. Irvin ended his junior season with an 8-tackle, 2-sack performance against The Hun School in New Jersey, which is always one of the top programs in that state.
Irvin is ranked as the nation's No. 123 overall player in the country by ESPN and he's ranked No. 204 overall by 247Sports. ESPN ranks him as the No. 2 inside linebacker in the country. Irish Breakdown grades Irvin as a 4.0-star prospect and gives him a Top 150 caliber prospect grade. He earns high marks for athleticism, playmaking and instincts. The only thing that drags down his grade at all is his lack of ideal length, but as discussed already he makes up for that with athleticism, football smarts and range.
The IMG standout earned offers from Ohio State, Miami (Fla.), Alabama, Georgia, Texas, Oregon, USC, Penn State, Texas A&M, LSU, Oklahoma, Florida, Florida State, Michigan, Tennessee, Auburn, Ole Miss, Missouri, Louisville, Nebraska, Arkansas, SMU, Indiana, Kansas State, North Carolina, Baylor, Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Duke, Georgia Tech, Boston College and Stanford among many others.
Irvin is the sixth player to commit to Notre Dame in the 2027 class. He joins Georgia quarterback Teddy Jarrard, Pennsylvania offensive tackle James Halter, Alabama linebacker Ellis McGaskin, California safety Khalil Terry and Wisconsin lineman Richie Flanigan.
