Notre Dame football landed a big-time prospect to its 2027 recruiting class on Friday, May 15.
Defensive lineman David Folorunsho announced his commitment to the Fighting Irish over Georgia, Miami, Michigan, and Texas Tech, landing Notre Dame a top-50 prize.
Folorunsho is ranked as the No. 43 overall prospect, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. The 6-foot-3, 280-pound defensive lineman is ranked No. 3 at his position and as the No. 2 overall prospect from the state of Illinois.
In 2025, as a junior, Folorunsho was a two-way star for St. Patrick High in Chicago. He received snaps at both defensive line and halfback. He finished the year with 55 tackles, including 18 for loss and five sacks.
Entering the 2026 calendar year, he had just 11 reported offers and was rated as a three-star recruit. However, by March, his recruitment picked up major steam and he has been widely seen as a top-100 prospect.
Notre Dame offered Folorunsho Feb. 6, and he made his first visit to South Bend, Indiana, on April 18 before returning the following week for the Blue-Gold Game.
