The modern era of college athletics is one marked by change, and that amorphous shape is still continuing to coalesce. The latest major shift? Ads on jerseys.

As Ohio State announced a landmark deal with Chase Bank that will pay it approximately $17 million annually, Notre Dame was putting the final touches on a press release announcing a deal with SoFi that will pay it $18-20 million per year, per Yahoo Sports. Terms of the deal were not specified in the release.

It will be a departure from the minimalist aesthetic Notre Dame has had in its nearly 140-year athletics history. The team posted on X a photo of what the patch will look like.

"Notre Dame has spent generations developing champions in the classroom and on the field," SoFi CEO Anthony Noto said in a statement released by the university and bank. "The grit, discipline, and determination of Notre Dame's student-athletes reflect the same ambition we see in our members every day. We are proud to partner with Notre Dame Athletics to help inspire the next generation and create opportunities that will shape their financial futures."

The partnership also includes support for Notre Dame's "4 for Forever" program, with a $1.4 million annual grant from SoFi bank. It will be a six-year deal.
