A legendary Notre Dame alum has called out Chris Ash for the Fighting Irish defensive coordinator used his personnel during the loss to No. 2 BYU on Saturday.

Former Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o said he'd have liked to have seen current Notre Dame linebacker Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa play more during the game.

"One of the best linebackers in the country. Leave him in the football game, and he should solve a lot of the problems we have defensively," Te'o wrote on Instagram, as shared by South Bend Tribune Notre Dame beat writer Mike Berardino.

What Te'o said might ring even more true after another top Irish defender, lineman Boubacar Traore, was ejected on the game's fifth play for targeting.

We'll see what adjustments Notre Dame makes going forward, especially with Miami (FL) coming to South Bend in early November. The Irish struggled with BYU's offense in the first half before playing much better — until the Cougars' final touchdown drive.

Notre Dame is looking for answers on both sides of the ball. We'll see if getting more snaps to Viliamu-Asa is one of the adjustments the Irish make.
