Notre Dame loses two more players to the transfer portal on Wednesday, three total

It was a rough day for Notre Dame football and the transfer portal, but you can pretty much say that been the whole experience since the window opened last weekend.

The Irish saw linebacker Preston Zinter enter early in the morning, but the bad news kept coming throughout the day. A few hours later, another linebacker, this time Anthony Sacca put his name into the portal according to 247Sports’ Chris Hummer. The freshman linebacker did not see the field this fall, as he entered the program as a 4-star prospect out of Pennsylvania. His father played for Penn State, so there is an early connection there.

To make matters worse, another freshman, wide receiver Scrap Richardson also will transfer according to On3’s Pete Nakos. Like Sacca, he didn’t see the field during his first season in South Bend, but his outlook was always a long-term on. Richardson played mainly quarterback in high school, but still was a 4-star athlete coming out of Georgia.

Notre Dame is still searching for its first transfer portal commitment, as they continue to see their roster thinning out during the last five days. Eventually the tide will turn, but it’s been a very frustrating start to the portal window.
