Notre Dame misses on its last 2028 QB offer who commits to Indiana

It has not gone very well for Notre Dame football and its pursuit of a 2028 quarterback, as once again the Blue and Gold were not the choice.

At one point the Irish did have a verbal, but shorty after Trey Tagliaferri joined the class, he’d flip his commitment to Oklahoma. With just four total offers to quarterbacks in the class, and two others (Niemann Lawrence to Texas and Kingston Preyear to Alabama) it left just Lukas Prock but unfortunately he isn’t an option anymore.

On Thursday afternoon, the 6-foot, 2-inch and 195-pound New Jersey native Lukas Prock committed to Indiana, a move that he spoke of potentially making after seeing how the quarterback dominoes were falling in the cycle. This now will force Notre Dame’s hand, they’ll either have to make a push to flip one of the four that had early offers or rework its recruiting board and make some new ones.

Most likely we’ll see a flurry of 2028 quarterbacks getting offered, as half of the 247Sports Composite’s top-10 have already made a commitment. The good news is that the Irish have recruited the position extremely well over the last few cycles, and while adding another high school quarterback to the roster would be ideal, with the transfer portal, it makes recruiting misses much easier to handle. Also adding in the fact that it’s well over a year away from this class signing, Notre Dame has plenty of time to find its quarterback.
