Notre Dame quarterback CJ Carr has inked an NIL deal with Chipotle mid-way through his second season as the starting quarterback for the Fighting Irish. Notre Dame currently sits at an unblemished 6-0, ranked No. 2 in the country, ahead of this Saturday’s top-10 clash at No. 8 BYU.

“Chipotle has been my dream NIL partner since I committed to play college football, so this is a full-circle moment,” said Carr. “I was already a top 1% Chipotle customer this summer, but I wasn’t signed up for Chipotle U, so I was definitely leaving some points on the field. Now that I’m in, I’m going for that No. 1 spot. There are a lot of Chipotle fans on campus, so I know they’re going to make me earn it.”

As part of the partnership, Carr’s current go-to order will be available for a limited time on the Chipotle app and chipotle.com. CJ Carr’s Double Chicken Bowl features double Pollo Asado, white rice, black beans, cheese, lettuce and light tomatillo-red chili salsa.

Carr will challenge fellow students on campus to compete for the No. 1 spot in the school’s Chipotle U rankings. When the competition concludes on December 31, 2026, the three students who finish atop the rankings will each be crowned a Chipotle U Valedictorian, earning free burritos for a year and a signed CJ Carr jersey.

Students at Notre Dame can join Chipotle U Rewards by visiting chipotle.com/chipotle-u-rewards and verifying their student status via ID.me. Students can then climb the campus leaderboard by ordering Chipotle on the Chipotle app or Chipotle.com or scanning their Chipotle U Member card at the register for in-restaurant orders.

Marcus Freeman ‘sleeps better at night’ with Carr leading offense

Ahead of this season, Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman opened up about his confidence around his starting quarterback. With Carr leading the charge, the Irish are 16-2 across the past two seasons. This season, the Saline, Mi. native boasts 1,378 passing yards and 16 touchdowns with just one interception.

“When he walked into this program, he was different. When you talk about a guy who grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and his grandfather is a National Champion head coach at the University of Michigan (Lloyd Carr)… for him to choose Notre Dame tells you a lot about his personality and who he is,” Freeman said on ‘The Triple Option’ podcast. “Now, he has the title to accompany who he is on the inside. Now he has the title of captain and returning starting quarterback. That’s who he is. He’s a leader.”

“He comes in here and he prepares in a way I haven’t seen many people prepare. On the field, he does what it takes to lead his team. I always say this… a leader has to be aware of what his team needs. Sometimes it’s getting on your tail, and sometimes it might be encouraging. But, he has that trait. It does help you sleep a bit better at night knowing he’s the one running your offense, but actually is the leader of the team.”
