Notre Dame remained No. 3 in the latest Coaches Poll coming out of Notre Dame's 27-10 victory over Michigan State. The Irish improved to 3-0 with the win, giving head coach Marcus Freeman and his program a 13th straight regular season win. All 13 of those wins were by double digits, and the Irish earned a fourth straight win over an opponent from the Big Ten.

Notre Dame received two first place votes and remain behind No. 1 Texas and No. 2 Georgia, who also won this weekend. Notre Dame began the season ranked No. 5 in the Coaches Poll and climbed up to No. 3 last weekend after its 52-0 win over Rice and after Ohio State lost to Texas. 

Louisville and Florida both jumped into the Top 25 in this week's ranking after the Cardinals beat SMU and the Gators pounded Auburn on the road. Houston and Virginia dropped out, with the Cougars losing by two to No. 10 Texas Tech and with Virginia losing to West Virginia.

LSU fell four spots to No. 11 after its 32-24 loss to Ole Miss, who jumped up to No. 6. USC also fell a spot to No. 12 after its one score win over winless Rutgers. Texas A&M fell 12 spots to No. 20 after it got beat at home by Kentucky, thanks in part to a strong performance from former Irish quarterback Kenny Minchey.

Notre Dame still has three ranked opponents on its schedule. BYU moved up four spots to No. 9 after its convincing over Colorado State. The Irish head out to Provo to take on the Cougars on October 17th. Miami remains at No. 5 in the rankings after its 33-20 road win over Wake Forest. Notre Dame hosts the Hurricanes on November 7th. SMU fell to No. 19 Louisville this weekend, but the Mustangs remain in the rankings, dropping down to No. 25. The Irish host SMU on November 21st, it's last home game of the season.

None of Notre Dame's remaining opponents received votes in this week's Top 25.
