It was a college football weekend built for some top 10 moves, and enough things went down on Saturday for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish to move to the No. 2 ranking in both the AP Top 25 and Coaches Poll.

Notre Dame picked up a first place vote in the AP Top 25 (thanks Brian Howell) and a couple of them in the Coaches Poll. Still… there was no way in hell that the winner of Georgia and Alabama was NOT going to be No. 1. If Bama would have won, they’d be top dog right now, and that’s even more of a (sort of) fact since they lost and didn’t move a single spot.

As far as Notre Dame’s opponents are concerned, Miami moved up with Notre Dame and the Canes are now ranked No. 3 while the BYU Cougars remain the No. 8 team in the country. The SMU Mustangs come in at 24/22 and could be a team that is eventually unranked by the time Notre Dame plays them.

The Wisconsin hate continues for no good reason.

Notre Dame’s top 10 matchup against BYU in Provo is this weekend.
