Notre Dame safety Ben Minich heads to Miami of Ohio

Former Notre Dame Fighting Irish safety Ben Minich has found a new home with the Miami of Ohio Redhawks.

Minich played in 29 games for the Irish over three seasons from 2023 to 2025. He had six solo tackles and four assisted tackles and half a sack, plus a pass defended, in his time at Notre Dame. Minich had just one tackle in 12 games in 2025 — it came in the 70-7 blowout win at home over Syracuse.

The transfer portal hasn't been kind to Notre Dame, it seems, but it also seems that at least some of the players leaving were depth pieces who saw relatively little playing time at Notre Dame. So, perhaps, Minich is looking to see more action with Miami of Ohio.
