Notre Dame football has once again gone into a neighboring state and stole way on of its top prospects as 2028 Illinois 5-star edge Darieon Prescott committed on Monday afternoon.
The Irish are adding an elite pass-rusher, one at 6-foot, 5-inches and 255-pounds looks the part already. Prescott is ranked No. 18 overall prospect in the 247Sports Composite, making this a very big recruiting win for Notre Dame.
It’s pretty early in the 2028 recruiting stage, but Prescott knew this was the right decision as he told Pat McAfee following his verbal. “I got one of my first majors offers, it was from Notre Dame. They were one of the first schools to believe in me… at the end of the day, Notre Dame is home. I always felt that way every time I visited,” as he explained his process.
While football did have a very important part in Prescott’s decision, the relationships that he’s formed with the coaching staff stood out just as much and most likely more. It’s another impressive feather in head coach Marcus Freeman’s recruiting cap, one that looks to have plenty of room for more.
