Oddsmakers Don't Give Kansas State Much Hope In Winning Big 12

It's no surprise the Kansas State Wildcats have the odds stacked against them when it comes to winning the Big 12 championship this season.

Not many are giving the Wildcats a chance because of several factors. One, they are playing for a coach, Collin Klein, who is in his first year in charge. Two, they lost top receiver Jayce Brown to LSU, so quarterback Avery Johnson has to find a replacement. Three, the Big 12 is loaded with teams like the Texas Tech Red Raiders, BYU Cougars and Utah Utes, who figure to be among the top teams in the conference.

The website Polymarket recently released its championship odds for the conference winner. The Wildcats checked in at No. 6 with a six percent chance of capturing the title.

Here are the full odds:

Polymarket's Big 12 Championship Odds

  1. Texas Tech (50%)
  2. BYU (14%)
  3. Utah (10%)
  4. Oklahoma State (7%)
  5. Houston (6%)
  6. Kansas State (6%)
  7. TCU (6%)
  8. Arizona (4%)
  9. Arizona State (4%)
  10. UCF (4%)
  11. Kansas (3%)
  12. West Virginia (3%)
  13. Baylor (2%)
  14. Cincinnati (2%)
  15. Colorado (2%)
  16. Iowa State (2%)

Again, it's kind of hard to put too much stock into gambling odds. There's a reason why they are called predictions. While many feel the Red Raiders are the runaway favorite to repeat at conference champions, anything is possible. If anything, this gives Klein an opportunity to prove he was the right man for the job. The Wildcats also have a favorable schedule, with many of their games against top opponents at home.

WILDCATS CHASING TOP OFFENSIVE LINEMAN PROSPECT

The Wildcats are still in pursuit of its first addition to the class, still trying to find out who will be next up in Manhattan, KS…even in the far future.

The latest offer was offensive lineman Jerry Richmond. He currently attends East St. Louis High School in East St. Louis, IL. Richmond has also received offers from Florida Atlantic, North Carolina, and South Dakota.
