Ohio St. WR Jeremiah Smith had a great offer, but he still refused

At 6'3", 223 pounds, Ohio State superstar Jeremiah Smith has the perfect size for a NFL receiver. He also reportedly has the second lowest body fat of anybody on the team, and the ability to do 20 reps of 225 on the bench press.

It's estimated that he can run the 40-yard dash somewhere in the 4.3s.

In measurables alone, he's the perfect prospect, and when you combine that with his elite on-field production, it's east to see why he's ranked #1, regardless of position, on many draft boards.

He is going to get paid, and get paid handsomely, next spring.

Smith also could have also gotten paid handsomely this college football offseason. It was reported that he would have been paid $10 million had he entered the transfer portal.

The Miami Gardens native spoke about this at Big Ten Media Days, but made it clear that leaving Ohio State was never considered. To put a twist on The Godfather line, it was an offer he could refuse.

Jeremiah Smith confirmed he was offered $10 million to enter the transfer portal, but he never considered leaving Ohio State.

"I always wanted to be at Ohio State," Smith said to a group of reporters assembled around his podium at Media Days.

"It would be dumb for me to leave Ohio State and go to another team when I have the best offensive line in the country, the best quarterback in the country, the best coaches in the country."

Smith could end up rewriting the receiving record book at OSU this year, and might get there with ease. And given how the Buckeyes are Wide Receiver U. that really says something.

And then given how Smith could do it in just three seasons, it really says something.

His head coach, Ryan Day, sung Smith's praises while on dais at Big Ten Media Days.

"Jeremiah, as many of you know, is somebody who in two years has already made an amazing impact on the game of college football, and what he has meant to the game on the field and also off the field is tremendous,” Day said.
