Caleb Downs has been one of the biggest stars in college football since his freshman season.
Downs began his career with the Alabama Crimson Tide. He spent one season at Alabama and transferred to Ohio State after Nick Saban announced his retirement from college football.
While he was a star in the SEC, Downs hasn’t skipped a beat at Ohio State.
During his time with the Buckeyes, Downs has continued to be one of the best safeties in the league. He’s looking to be a three-and-done player after this season, working under head coach Ryan Day.
Caleb Downs received a major award ahead of the College Football Playoff, further solidifying his crown as the top safety in the sport.
Before the postseason, Downs was awarded the Jim Thorpe Award.
“Your 2025 @jimthorpeaward Winner, @caleb_downs2,” posted the official social media account of the Ohio State Buckeyes.
