Ohio State Announces Julian Sayin News Before UCLA Game

Julian Sayin is in his first year as the starting quarterback of the Ohio State Buckeyes, playing under head coach Ryan Day.
Sayin began his college football career with a bang. He’s a Heisman Trophy candidate and has Ohio State ranked as the No. 1 team in the nation.
The former blue-chip prospect recently received praise for his success with the Buckeyes, having been named on a prestigious list with other college football stars.
Ohio State announced that Julian Sayin is a Maxwell Award Player of the Year semifinalist. The Maxwell Award is presenting to college football’s most outstanding player. Ashton Jeanty of the Boise State Broncos won the award last year.
Sayin is included in the 13-player semifinal list along with a teammate, Ohio State receiver Jeremiah Smith, and top quarterbacks in the college football landscape, including Ty Simpson of the Alabama Crimson Tide, Fernando Mendoza of the Indiana Hoosiers and Gunner Stockton of the Georgia Bulldogs.
Each quarterback has his team in line to compete for a national title during the 2025 college football season.

Julian Sayin committed to the Ohio State Buckeyes as a transfer portal recruit.
Sayin spent time with Alabama but mainly worked as a scout team quarterback for Nick Saban’s team at the end of his last season with the program.
After Saban retired, Sayin transferred to Ohio State. He earned his opportunity as the full-time starter in 2025 after being ranked as a five-star prospect and the No. 1 quarterback in the 2024 class.
Throughout his first season as the starting quarterback of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Julian Sayin has posted 24 touchdowns and 2,491 yards with an 80.9 completion percentage.
Sayin’s next matchup will be against the UCLA Bruins in Week 12 of the college football season. The game begins at 7:30 p.m. ET and will air on NBC.
