Ohio State Buckeyes Survive Another Crazy Week in College Football

Week 12 around College Football was pure, beautiful chaos. And luckily for the Ohio State Buckeyes, the program survived the immense amount of upsets on Saturday.

The incredible slate of games began at noon on Saturday, as the No. 3 Texas A&M Aggies found themselves in an all-out war. At halftime of their game against the lowly South Carolina Gamecocks, they trailed by a draw-dropping 30-3 score.

A comeback felt like it was out of the realm of reality, but immediately in the third quarter, the Aggies put the pedal to the metal. Everything started to fall the right way for head coach Mike Elko and his squad, and all of a sudden, A&M had the lead and needed one more stop to close it out.

They eventually got that stop and took a knee, and survived another week with an undefeated record.

Well north of College Station, the Indiana Hoosiers found themselves in a bit of a battle against the Wisconsin Badgers. Indiana is protecting a perfect record and pushing down the tracks on a collision course with the Buckeyes.

However, the Hoosiers needed to get by Wisconsin first, and at the first halftime, the result was in question. Indiana held a 10-7 lead at the break, and it had the attention of everyone in Columbus, OH who was following the game.

The Hoosiers ended up pulling away for a comfortable victory, but not after having a first-half scare.

Then, a little west of Bloomington inside the historic Wrigley Field, the Michigan Wolverines were on the ropes against the Northwestern Wildcats.

After building a decent lead, the Wolverines caught the turnover bug which allowed the Wildcats to remain in striking distance. This would eventually change in the fourth quarter, as Northwestern took the lead over Michigan 22-21 with roughly four minutes left to go in the game.

The Wolverines needed one more drive to go down and win the football game, and luckily for head coach Sherrone Moore, his squad got it. They cashed in on a short, chip-shot field goal to gain the lead as time expired. It was an unexpected instant classic that kept Michigan alive in the playoff race.

To make matters worse, a shocking upset occurred in Tuscaloosa, where the Oklahoma Sooners kept their playoff hopes alive with a tight, hard-fought win over the Alabama Crimson Tide. The hectic day of football was capped off by the Georgia Bulldogs rolling through the Texas Longhorns. Now, Texas is on the outside looking in in terms of the playoffs.

All of that chaos around he country did not impact what happened inside the Horseshoe. Ohio State comfortably took care of business against the UCLA Bruins and did what they were supposed to do and made it look easy.

The rest of the country reminded us that college football can take on a life of its own. Everywhere else but in Columbus.
