Ohio State drops in the latest US LBM Coaches Poll after Texas loss

The latest US LBM Coaches Poll is out, and as you would expect, Ohio State has dropped from the No. 1 spot. It shouldn't have been that way, since the Buckeyes had the Longhorns on the ropes all game until they allowed 21-unanswered points to give the game away to the Texas Longhorns in the fourth quarter.

The Buckeyes didn't drop too terribly far, and one could argue that losing by one point to a top-five team on the road should have seen the Scarlet and Gray less than they did. The voters, however, did penalize Ohio State, knocking it down to the No. 6 spot behind a top five of Texas (1), Georgia (2), Notre Dame (3), Indiana (4), and Miami (FL) (5).

Rounding out the top ten are LSU (7), Texas A&M (8), Ole Miss (9), and Alabama (10). Oregon (18) dropped from the top ten and joins other Big Ten teams USC (11), Penn State (15), Michigan (19), Iowa (20), and Washington (24) inside the top 25 of the poll.

Ohio State is still in a great position to make a run at the College Football Playoff, but the margin of error is much smaller. It could have and should have been different, and all the Buckeyes can do now is learn from the game in Austin and go about their business the right way. Here's a look at the complete top 25.
