Ohio State football falls to curious spot in last US LBM Coaches Poll

The final US LBM Coaches Poll for college football has been released, and Ohio State finished in a curious spot after losing its last two games. Despite the only two losses coming to the two teams that faced off for the College Football Playoff national championship, the Buckeyes sank all the way down to No. 6.

The ranking is even more confounding when you look at one of the teams ahead of the Buckeyes. Indiana finished No. 1, of course, followed by Miami (2), Ole Miss (3), Oregon (4), and Georgia (5) — all ahead of the Scarlet and Gray. Apparently, getting blitzed by Indiana, the same team OSU lost to just a game prior by only three points, did nothing to hamper the Ducks' final ranking. Rounding out the top ten were Texas Tech (7), Texas A&M (8), Alabama (9), and Oklahoma (10).

OSU has noone to blame but itself after failing to rise to the occasion in the postseason. The ultimate goal was to win back-to-back national championships, and the offense didn't play well enough to get that done.

Regardless, it's another top ten finish for the Buckeyes, something that has become as commonplace as the sun rising in the East and setting in the West. It's not the finish anyone in Buckeye Nation wanted, and now it's up to head coach Ryan Day and the coaching staff to figure out a way to address the glaring need on the offensive line to become a better team next season, much in the way the Hoosiers addressed their deficiencies in the trenches to make a run all the way to a national championship this season.

Here's a look at the rest of the US LBM Coaches Poll to end the 2025 college football season.
