It's Friday and we're just a couple of weeks away from fall camp opening for the Ohio State Buckeyes. There's already an upset being called for the Buckeyes during the 2026 season.
The Ohio State Buckeyes are away on break right now but in just a couple of weeks fall camp will ramp up, and it'll be time for the pads to go on.
Ohio State should have a nasty taste in its mouth after how last season ended with two straight losses to Indiana and Miami to close out the year. The Buckeyes return Julian Sayin for his second season as a starting quarterback, and Jeremiah Smith for his third season before likely making the jump to the NFL.
A tough schedule awaits Ohio State this fall and they're going to be battle-tested by the time the postseason rolls around.
Big Ten road game circled as a possible upset for Ohio State
October into November is going to be a very tough few games for Ohio State and it could potentially make or break their season. Ohio State will travel to Indiana on Oct. 17, then to USC on Oct. 31 before hosting Oregon on Nov. 7.
On a recent episode of Crain and Cone, David Cone picked USC to beat Ohio State in October as one of his five upsets for the 2026 college football season. It would be a huge win for Lincoln Riley's program, and if they were to win the game it'd show that USC is for real. The Trojans do return talented QB Jayden Maiava and the time is now for Riley's team to break through.
Traveling to the West Coast is never easy, Ohio State did it last year when they beat Washington and played very well. With Oregon the following week and Indiana the game before, the Buckeyes can't afford to drop the game against USC. Beating the Hoosiers and Ducks would be ideal, but it becomes almost a must if you drop the game against the Trojans.
It's the offseason and we can have these kinds of talks about upset, but at the end of the day, the games are played for a reason. USC has taken steps forward with its defense and it may finally be ready to compete toward the top of the Big Ten in 2026. It's a game the Buckeyes will have to be firing on all cylinders.
