Ohio State has now offered the brother of a recent Cleveland Browns’ draft pick in one of the more unique developments we’ve seen lately.

It’s a busy recruiting period for the Ohio State Buckeyes and across all of college football. Official visit season is here in May and June, and the Buckeyes have much of their focus on the class of 2027 where they have 12 players committed. 

However, work is already being done with the class of 2028 for the Buckeyes. Ohio State recently dished out an interesting offer to an offensive line recruit. 

Ohio State is in the mix for Cleveland Browns’ first-round pick’s brother 

A notable offer for the Buckeyes on Tuesday was to Orem (UT) OT Mataio Fano, a four-star prospect and top-10 offensive tackle in the class. Fano is the younger brother of recent Cleveland Browns first-round LT Spencer Fano and undrafted free agent EDGE Logan Fano.

According to 247Sports Composite, Fano is the No. 75 overall recruit and No. 10 offensive tackle in the class of 2028. Fano is the No. 2 player in the state of Utah and is listed at 6-foot-4, 235 pounds. 

Fano already has 24 offers ahead of his junior season with schools like Michigan, Alabama, Miami, Oregon, and Oklahoma already in the mix. Utah will likely be a team to beat as well given that both of his brothers played college football there. 

Ohio State has a pair of 2028 commitments already with four-star DL Jameer Whyce and four-star RB Elijah Newman-Hall. It’ll be interesting to see if Ohio State pushes hard for the younger Fano brother. 

The Buckeyes are typically a team that recruits offensive line hard in-state each cycle, then labels a few players around the rest of the country they want to target. Early signs show that Fano could be one of those players for offensive line coach Tyler Bowen to try and bring in.
