It’s another big week on the recruiting trail for the Ohio State Buckeyes where they could be adding a key defender.

The Ohio State Buckeyes had a nice end of June on the recruiting trail that extended into early July. Ohio State is still awaiting word from top target five-star RB David Gabriel Georges, who will decide between the Buckeyes, Tennessee, and Ole Miss on July 22.

Ahead of the July 22 commitment, Ohio State has another target set to decide on his future on July 18. The Buckeyes are the favorite to add a four-star defender to their 2027 haul.

Ohio State expected to add another key commitment this week

The Buckeyes have a strong defensive line haul so far with players like DJ Jacobs, Marcus Fakatou, and Wyatt Smith committed. There’s still a need for a true interior defender for the defensive line, and the Buckeyes are tracking toward adding one on Saturday.

Ramsay (AL) four-star DL Karlos May will commit this coming weekend and Ohio State is the favorite. Folks like Chad Simmons and Steve Wiltfong from Rivals have predictions in for May to choose the Buckeyes. The 6-foot-3, 305-pound recruit would give Ohio State defensive line coach Larry Johnson the final piece he needs for the 2027 class.

According to 247 Sports Composite, May is the No. 15 defensive lineman and No. 132 player nationally. The Buckeyes are battling Georgia and Auburn for a player in the heart of SEC land.

Ohio State sits at 18 commitments in the class that’s expected to finish with fewer than the 27 taken a year ago. The Buckeyes have eyes on just a few more players to add and May is one of the more important.
