Ohio State football witnessed history out of wide receiver Jeremiah Smith. But the nation also watched the Buckeyes redeem themselves from the disastrous Texas finish. Taking out their frustrations on Kent State 59-3.
Ohio State wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, piling 21 points in the first quarter. Although OSU started fast in the last game against the Longhorns before watching their victory pursuit unravel.
But this time head coach Ryan Day made sure there’ll be no late collapse. Especially inside the famed Horseshoe and in front of the Buckeyes faithful who supported their team following that now infamous 24-23 road loss to Texas.

Ohio State entered Saturday’s contest now No. 6 in the nation, dropping five spots from the No. 1 spot it held. The Buckeyes rolled to a 35-0 halftime lead that featured three rushing touchdowns. But Brandon Inniss closed out the half with this epic 66-yard touchdown.

Granted, not everyone was energized to see the output OSU put on inside its home. Even Fox Sports play-by-play commentator Gus Johnson sounded like he experienced boredom from the trouncing the Buckeyes delivered. But still, OSU needed to re-energize its fanbase following a devastating loss and accomplished just that.
Quarterback Julian Sayin threw two touchdowns in the first half before taking a rest. Sayin hit 18-of-22 of this throws for 241 yards and tossed two touchdowns. Luke Fahey eventually relieved him and completed 4-of-5 passes for 141 yards with one touchdown pass.
Smith, meanwhile, is officially the school’s all-time receiving yardage leader which he hit during the first quarter. He caught five passes for 85 yards in the rout.
