The Ohio State Buckeyes traveled to Austin, Texas, to take on the Longhorns in a game that got national attention. Jeremiah Smith was a hot story for Ohio State, passing for 100 yards before halftime. Smith’s performance caught the eye of Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell, who showed his excitement on social media during the game.
Mitchell showed his Ohio State fandom loud and clear as he kept a running log of the game on X.
“O-H,” Mitchell said early on during the matchup.

He also noticed a fumble lost by the Longhorns and laughed amid Ohio State’s strong defensive effort against Manning. The fumble was caused by Buckeyes cornerback Jay Timmons, one of several defenders who stepped up against the potential Heisman Trophy winner Manning.
“Naaaa arch they playing with wit you lol,” he said with two laughing and crying emojis. “Jeremiah Smith!!!!” he later exclaimed as the Buckeyes Heisman Trophy candidate began turning up the heat in Austin.
Smith had eight catches for 164 yards and a touchdown early on in the fourth quarter as Texas closed to 23-10 on the scoreboard. The Buckeyes’ defense ceded an Arch Manning-to-Ryan Wingo touchdown pass early in the fourth quarter as the ‘Horns attempted to scrape their way back into the game.
Mitchell’s rooting interest hoped to hold onto its late lead on a day when fellow Big Ten powers Michigan and Oregon competed in high-profile games. Michigan beat Oklahoma while Oregon lost to Oklahoma State. The Buckeyes looked like the Big Ten’s best team on Saturday, but as Mitchell knows all too well, the tide can turn fast in college football, especially with so many future NFL players on the field Saturday.
