The top cornerback in the 2027 class and one of the best players in the class has confirmed that he will be visiting Ohio State this summer.

Five-star cornerback John Meredith III has announced his summer recruiting visit schedule, and Ryan Day and the Buckeyes will be afforded an opportunity to win him over on campus. Meredith will be visiting Alabama on 5/29, Texas on 6/5, Texas A&M on 6/12, and then finally Ohio State on 6/19. He is a 6-foot, 2-inch, 180-pound cornerback out of Fort Worth, TX. According to the 247 Composite, he is the No. 1 cornerback in the country and the No. 2 player overall.

Andrew Ivins, Director of Scouting at 247Sports has called John an “Advanced cover corner that’s built for the game’s current era with his long limbs, quick reaction times and elite recovery speed.” Meredith profiles as the type of boundary defender that could anchor the back end of a defense.

Ohio State landing an official visit is a significant step in a recruitment that has gone national. Meredith has already identified the Buckeyes as among those that have caught his attention, citing strong relationships with the coaching staff and positive experiences on earlier trips to Columbus.

Meredith’s decision timeline remains fluid, and the OSU staff will be hard at work trying to convince one of the elite players in the 2027 class that his program has a track record of turning talents like him into reaching their long-term goals.
