Ohio State freshman running back Bo Jackson makes decision on future

Ohio State freshman running back Bo Jackson is returning to Columbus to build on a fantastic first year on the banks of the Olentangy.

It’s great news for Buckeye Nation after several reports began to surface that he may enter the transfer portal after a season in which he grabbed the No. 1 tag by rushing for 1,090 yards on 179 carries (6.1 avg.) and six touchdowns. It’s even more impressive with the understanding that it took him a few games to gain the confidence of the coaching staff and really start to get the bulk of the carries out of the backfield.

His return means that Ohio State will have a dynamic player in the backfield to build around. With him toting the rock and a receiving corps that will be one of the best again in the country, and with Julian Sayin building on a Heisman Finalist freshman season, the offense will have plenty of playmakers and options for the 2026 season.

Jackson’s decision is also some good news when it comes to the portal because the Buckeyes have seen a slew of players across multiple positions and classes already enter their names into the portal to continue their careers elsewhere.

After a season that didn’t end the way anyone wanted, and with all of the offseason change, this is a bit of light in an otherwise disappointing end of the year for Ohio State. We’ll continue to bring you any news from players, personnel, and the like as we get through this crazy postseason world of college football these days.
