The Ohio State Buckeyes have landed a commitment from a tight end for the upcoming 2028 recruiting class. According to insider Hayes Fawcett, tight end Luke Sohyda has decided to join the Buckeyes.

Sohyda decided on Ohio State over Maryland, Pittsburgh, and NC State. But the pass-catcher is excited to join the program.

"Excited to be a part of the Brotherhood!"

Sohyda is a three-star tight end, but he could end up being a big help to the Buckeyes down the line. Being 6-foot-4, Sohyda has good size, and this could work to his advantage when playing in college.

One of his best traits is his route running, with Sohyda showing a strong ability to do so. He is able to create separation well while also making contested catches in the process.

Ohio State also probably liked that he has shown a willingness to be a blocker, which not every player tends to do. Overall, Sohyda checks a ton of boxes for the Buckeyes, and he adds to the already star-studded class of 2028.

Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day has done a good job in recent years with recruiting, blending together old-school high school recruits with the transfer portal. The Ohio State rosters have been some of the best in the country, and the team was able to break through in 2024, winning the National Championship.

This season, the Buckeyes are looking to bounce-back after falling short in the quest to win two straight titles. Ohio State has a loaded roster on both sides of the ball, and once again, they should be one of the best teams in the sport.

Ohio State was able to dominate in Week 1 against Ball State, winning 56-3 in front of their faithful fans. But now their attention shifts to a massive game in Week 2 coming up this weekend.

The Buckeyes will be traveling to take on the Texas Longhorns in a rematch of one of the more fun games of the season last year. Ohio State got the better of Texas in the season opener last year, but the scene now shifts from Columbus to Austin.

This game will feature the No. 1 team in the country in Ohio State and the No. 4 in Texas, giving fans a true showdown early in the year. Kickoff for the game will take place at 4:30 p.m. PT/7:30 p.m. ET from Darrell K Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium.
