Ohio State Makes Kicking Change After Postseason Disaster

The Ohio State football program has made a kicking change.

Ohio State lost to both Indiana and Miami in the college football postseason. The Buckeyes fell to Indiana in the Big Ten Championship Game. They then fell to Miami in the College Football Playoff quarterfinals.

Veteran Ohio State kicker Jayden Fielding had a rough showing in both games. Fielding missed a short game-tying field goal in the Big Ten Championship Game against Indiana. He then missed a big field goal toward the end of the first half in the loss to Miami.

In the wake of Fielding's struggles, the Buckeyes have officially made a change at kicker on Wednesday.

Ohio State landed a commitment from a top transfer kicker earlier on Wednesday evening, January 14.

Buckeyes land new kicker

Baylor transfer Connor Hawkins committed to Ohio State on Wednesday night. The veteran college football kicker went 18-for-22 on field goals at Baylor. He made three field goals from 50 yards or further.

He was a perfect 37 for 37 on extra points and had a long of 54 yards.

It's a big get for the Buckeyes as they look to rebound in 2026.
