A long time coming, the 2026 NFL Draft first round is finally here and should be more than good to Ohio State’s program. A recruiting tool the Buckeyes always use when they pursue top talent in the prep ranks, tonight is likely to see three to four Buckeyes go in the top ten picks and potentially five players in the first 32 overall.
A class that will only continue Ohio State’s dominance and track record of developing players for the ultimate stage, it should be an evening that once again shines light on the NFL factory that is in Columbus.
Ohio State in the top three for OL prospect
Four offensive linemen committed to Ohio State’s 2027 class, position coach Tyler Bowen is doing a solid job at not only landing top priority talents, but also increasing the depth of the position as well. Always a need every year, offensive line commitments in previous cycles may have lacked the numbers and the goal is for this class to change that narrative in a hurry.
Finding their name on the short list for several offered players at the position, yesterday Ohio State stayed in the mix for the latest player to release a top schools list. Pennsylvania native Ryan Robbins the topic of discussion, Robbins is now down to just three programs after taking to social media to share his latest update.
A player with 20 offers to his name, a decision could be coming in the near future and the Buckeyes at the very least have impressed yet again. A 6-foot-6, 270 pound tackle, Robbins is the No. 720 player nationally and 67th best at his position per the 247Sports Composite.
Penn State and Virginia Tech rounding out the rest of his top three, the in-state Nittany Lions are the leader via the crystal ball and may be the favorite overall as it stands right now. Already taking Jimmy Kalis out of Pennsylvania with his recent verbal, the Buckeyes shouldn’t be counted out here.
Official visit in the works top 2027 play-maker
Regardless of when it happens, being able to play host to a top target for an official visit is always a major piece to any recruitment. Many times, the desire is to have your program as the last visit so a ture lasting impression can be made and Ohio State will have that chance in June when they host IMG Academy play-maker, Eric McFarland III.
A 5-foot-8, 177 pound receiver, McFarland is the No. 25 player nationally and fifth best receiver in the 2027 class per the 247Sports Composite grades. A five-star, Eric has nearly 40 offers to his name and of course from every top school in the country on the list.
Down to four finalists however, it’s Ohio State, Georgia, Texas A&M, and USC who have done the most to stay at the forefront of his mind. Official visits set in place for Eric, things really start to get serious in May when his top schools get him on campus once more before he makes his final call.
Georgia up first, Texas A&M and USC are to follow with the Buckeyes last on the list for June 12. As mentioned, it’s not the case in every recruitment, but certainly having the last visit here for McFarland isn’t the worst thing for Ohio State’s chances.
