Since the end of the annual spring game in April, recruiting news has been quieter than usual for Ohio State. The Buckeyes are not alone in this, as the college football recruiting landscape was in the middle of a lull when it comes to headlines.

However, the decrease in recruiting headlines does not mean Ryan Day and the Ohio State coaching staff had extra time off. The exact opposite in reality.

The Ohio State coaching staff has been hitting the recruiting trail head on the last month visiting with many of nation’s top recruits. This has all been in efforts of identifying high school recruits, in both the 2027 class and future classes, that the coaching staff believes has the skill and character to make for a future Buckeye.

The hard work by the coaching staff has been paying off as of late, with the Buckeyes securing a commitment from 2027 four-star linebackerPrince Goldsby to open the week. The addition of Goldsby gives Ohio State 13 verbal commitments in the 2027 class, which 247Sports has as the No. 9 class in the country.

Ohio State is hoping to soon add to this total and this weekend could go a long way in doing so.

The Buckeyes are prepping for a major recruiting weekend. A handful of the nation’s top prospects will be making their way to Ohio State this weekend for official visits. Official visits are much more difficult to come by than those of the unofficial nature, and tend to be a very strong indication into a recruits top schools.

Below are just some of the blue-chip recruits scheduled to officially visit with Ohio State this weekend that Ohio State is hoping will soon pledge their services to Ohio State:

Five-star RB David Gabriel Georges

Class: 2027
Hometown: Chattanooga, TN / Baylor School
Size: 6-foot / 205 lbs.

Gabriel Georges has long been a name associated with Ohio State, offering him back in 2024. Since the offer, Ohio State has gotten him on campus numerous times, which has led to them being viewed as one of the leaders in his recruitment, if not the outright favorites.

The visit this weekend could go a long way in helping the Buckeyes lock him up for good and become the offensive face of Ohio State’s recruiting class.

Gabriel Georges has official visits also scheduled with Tennessee, Ole Miss and Georgia, and all will follow the Ohio State visit. The Buckeyes have a chance to set the bar incredibly high for the blue-chip back and a commitment could come shortly following his last visit with Georgia on June 19.

Gabriel Georges is the No. 2 RB in the 247Sports Composite and is the No. 10 national recruit.

Five-star DL Marcus Fakatou

Class: 2027
Hometown: Chatsworth, CA / Sierra Canyon
Size: 6-foot-6 / 275 lbs.

Ohio State offered Fakatou in May of last year, and in the last year have really gained ground in his recruitment. So much so that many believe the Buckeyes are now the leader in his recruitment.

Ohio State already has one elite commitment along the defensive front in five-star edge DJ Jacobs, and Fakatou would make for an excellent addition alongside him.

Fakatou also has official visits scheduled with schools not including Ohio State as well, as he also plan to visit with Georgia, Oregon and Notre Dame. Similar to Gabriel Georges above, Ohio State will be his first official visit and the Buckeyes will have a chance to set the bar for his official visits.

Fakatou is the No. 2 DL in the 247Sports Composite and he is the No. 32 national recruit.

Five-star WR Benny Easter Jr.

Class: 2027
Hometown: Humble, TX / Humble Summer Creek
Size: 6-foot / 200 lbs.

Unlike the above Gabriel Georges and Fakatou, Easter Jr. is already committed elsewhere. He committed to Texas Tech in November of last year, but despite the commitment, he has not yet shut down his recruitment.

The opposite actually, as he has official visits scheduled with Ohio State, Ole Miss, Alabama and then he closes it out at Texas Tech.

Although he is doing his due diligence to ensure he goes to the best school possible by visiting with other schools, he still remains committed to the Red Raiders. While getting him on campus this weekend is crucial in Ohio State’s efforts to get him to flip, convincing him to decommit from Texas Tech will be far from easy.

Easter Jr. is the No. 7 WR in the 247Sports Composite and he is the No. 36 national recruit.

Four-star DL Brayden Parks

Class: 2027
Hometown: Chicago, IL / Brother Rice
Size: 6-foot-3 / 305 lbs.

Parks is another name that Ohio State has been really increasing its contact with and is also making him feel like a priority target. While Ohio State is the only school he has an official visit with, it is far from alone in his recruitment as he is also being heavily recruited by Georgia, Oregon, Notre Dame, Illinois and Miami.

Of the above group, including Ohio State, Notre Dame is actually viewed as leaders in his recruitment. However, this could very easily change following this weekend’s official visit. If it doesn’t, Notre Dame will quickly become the heavy favorites.

Parks is the No. 19 DL in the 247Sports Composite and he is the No. 172 national recruit.
