One tackle in the Big Ten championship game came with some collateral damage.

In the second quarter of the clash between No. 1 Ohio State and No. 2 Indiana, a scramble by Buckeyes quarterback Julian Sayin resulted in a four-yard loss on a sack. His shoe, however, proceeded to gain a few more yards.

As Sayin rolled on the ground, the shoe flew the air and hit an Ohio State cheerleader in the mid-section, then bounced into another cheerleader. These are the dangers of sideline work in a football game.

The sack on 3rd-and-6 resulted in Ohio State settling for a field goal, giving them a 10-3 lead in the battle of the undefeateds. It was 10-6 Buckeyes at halftime.

Sayin, a redshirt freshman, entered the game as a slight favorite for the Heisman Trophy after posting 3,065 passing yards, an FBS-best 78.9% completion rate, 30 touchdowns and five interceptions in 12 games played. At halftime, he was 7-for-11 with 109 passing yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception.
