The USC Trojans' season feels different compared to 24 hours ago. Before Ohio State played Indiana on Saturday, the Buckeyes looked like very clear favorites to beat USC on October 31. Now, that might not be the case. College Sports Wire has more on the health status of Ohio State starting quarterback Julian Sayin, who was injured against Indiana:

"Starting quarterback Julian Sayin exited the game in the fourth quarter of the 19-15 victory on Saturday and would later return to the sideline sporting a sling on his right arm," the article stated. "After the game, head coach Ryan Day told media members that they don't have a ton of details on the injury, but are expecting Sayin to miss "several weeks" going forward."

Luke Fahey filled in for Sayin against Indiana and did not look good at all. He committed an intentional grounding penalty on a possession in which the Buckeyes lost yards and had to punt to Indiana late in the fourth quarter. It's true that Julian Sayin did not have a good game against Indiana and has struggled for portions of the 2026 season, but he is certainly a much more developed quarterback than Luke Fahey right now. As great as Ohio State receiver Jeremiah Smith is, having Julian Sayin out of the lineup will make it harder for Smith and the Ohio State offense to achieve what they want to achieve against USC.

The several-week timetable would put Julian Sayin out for the October 31 game in two weeks versus USC. This is now a much more winnable game for the Trojans, who must first take care of business at Wisconsin so that the Ohio State game carries maximum meaning on Halloween.
