Luke Fahey, Mission Viejo’s rising star quarterback, capped off his senior season with over 3,000 passing yards and a commitment to Ohio State, cementing his place as one of California’s premier signal-callers.

Mission Viejo finished 9-2, ultimately losing in the playoffs to national power Mater Dei (Santa Ana).

Fahey’s offense scored over 30 points eight times, over 50 points four times and 76 points in a win over Los Alamitos.

All of this added up to Fahey being named a finalist for the ALL-USA West Football Team, which also makes him a finalist for the national ALL-USA Football Team. Both of those teams will be announced later this month. Here is a list of all the quarterback finalists.

Season and Career Statistics

Fahey delivered a standout senior campaign. He completed 207 of 292 passes for 3,199 yards, 25 touchdowns and just three interceptions, posting a completion rate of 70.9 percent and averaging nearly 291 passing yards per game.

His career totals across four varsity seasons are equally impressive. In the passing game, he completed 475 of 689 passes for 7,021 yards, 68 touchdowns, and only nine interceptions (6 in his sophomore year), with a career completion rate of 68.9 percent. In the rushing game, he had 194 carries for 1,567 yards and 19 touchdowns, showing his ability to extend plays and contribute on the ground.

These numbers highlight Fahey’s consistency and growth, with each season building toward his senior-year breakout.

Recruiting Journey

Fahey is rated a three-star recruit by 247Sports, ranked as the No. 33 quarterback nationally and the No. 46 player in California.

His recruitment drew interest from major programs including Arkansas, Auburn, Florida State, Ole Miss, Stanford and Indiana, but he ultimately chose Ohio State.

In June, Fahey visited Columbus, where head coach Ryan Day and quarterbacks coach Billy Fessler evaluated him closely. Shortly after, he received an official offer and committed to the Buckeyes.

Ohio State had been searching for its quarterback in the 2026 class and Fahey’s commitment ended a long recruiting process. His decision was seen as a major win for the Buckeyes, who had previously targeted other top passers before landing Fahey.

 Style of Play and Strengths

Fahey is regarded as a true pocket passer with excellent accuracy and decision-making. His ability to read defenses and deliver precise throws under pressure stood out.

Scouts praised his quick release, poise in the pocket and leadership qualities, while his rushing stats show he can escape pressure and pick up yards when needed.

His junior season showcased his efficiency, completing 76.6 percent of passes for 1,638 yards and 17 touchdowns without an interception. That kind of precision caught the attention of recruiters nationwide and solidified his reputation as one of the most reliable quarterbacks in his class.

Legacy and Future Outlook

At Mission Viejo, Fahey left behind a legacy of consistency, leadership, and production. His 7,000+ career passing yards place him among the most prolific quarterbacks in California high school football. Beyond the numbers, his ability to elevate his team in big games made him a cornerstone of the Diablos’ offense.

Looking ahead, Fahey will join Ohio State’s quarterback room in 2026, where he’ll compete in one of the most high-profile positions in college football.

With his accuracy, football IQ and steady progression, he has the tools to thrive in Ryan Day’s offense and potentially become the Buckeyes’ next star under center.
