Finally, the day that the Buckeyes have all been waiting for. After a long wait, they received their Gold Pants to commemorate their win over the Michigan Wolverines in November.

The rivalry between Michigan and Ohio State has been a fascinating one over the past five seasons.

Michigan was at the peak of its powers when they were deep in the midst of its sign-stealing scandal. They stole two wins against Ohio State that way, and then once that all settled down, they beat Ohio State "fair and square" the two seasons after that.

The most painful one was the 2024 loss to the Wolverines inside Ohio Stadium when Michigan rolled out a team that hardly had a quarterback, and they took down the eventual National Champions.

All of that was washed out of their mouths in 2025 when Ohio State went up to Ann Arbor and took care of business in emphatic fashion.

After a horribly slow start where Julian Sayin threw an interception on his second pass attempt, the Buckeyes buckled down and flipped the script.

Sayin answered his early mistake by going 19-26 for 233 yards and three touchdowns against that one interception. He had highlight throws to both Carnell Tate and Jeremiah Smith that helped pull the Buckeyes out of an early deficit and into a comfortable lead.

That late November day was certainly one to remember and will live in the history books forever.

Now, with the Golden Pants in their possession, the Buckeyes turn their attention to the 2026 version of The Game with a new wrinkle in it.

The Wolverines have seemingly washed themselves of a terrible regime that was leading them over the past five seasons. Now, they enter the 2026 year under new head coach Kyle Wittingham, who is a total upgrade from what they had before.

The Buckeyes will have a unique challenge on their hands next year as the Wolverines will absolutely be an improved bunch, and the Buckeyes, like it or not, will take some steps back after losing their four best defensive players to the NFL Draft.

There is a lot of time for the Buckeyes to sort all of that out and get prepared to make it two in a row against the Wolverines.

For now, they get to spend some time celebrating with their brand-new Gold Pants.
