We are now five full weeks through the 2026 college football season, and after each slate of games, USA TODAY's Paul Myerberg re-ranks all 139 FBS college football teams. Ohio State is, of course, always up among the top of these rankings, but Myerberg has historically been less kind to the Buckeyes than other rankings and national media writers.
In this case, after a dominating and impressive performance at Iowa, the Buckeyes hold steady in Myerberg's rankings at No. 5, just where they were after the victory over Illinois the week prior. In fact, the entire top five remains unchanged, with Georgia clocking in at No. 1, followed by Texas (2), Notre Dame (3), and Miami (FL) (4) ahead of Ohio State. Rounding out the top ten, according to Myerberg, just behind the Buckeyes, there are some changes. At No. 6 is now Alabama, followed by Ole Miss (7), Indiana (8), Texas Tech (9), and Utah (1).
The rest of the re-ranking saw a lot of changes, as expected. Other Big Ten teams in the top 25 of the re-rank are Indiana (8), Oregon (21), Iowa (22), and USC (23). To get a complete look at the re-rank Myerberg put out, head on over to our mothership at USA TODAY and check it out.
