The Ohio State Buckeyes and head coach Ryan Day have gotten off to an incredible start in the 2027 recruiting cycle.

As a consensus top-10 program in the upcoming recruiting class, Day has landed a total of 17 commits in the cycle, with a pair of five-stars in EDGE DJ Jacobs and wide receiver Jamier Brown leading the bunch. However, the coaching staff’s strong efforts on the recruiting trail continue to ramp up heading into July.

According to Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett last week, 2027 four-star offensive tackle Caden Moss has committed to the Buckeyes over the likes of the Ole Miss Rebels, the LSU Tigers, and the Oregon Ducks.

Ohio State’s Impressive 2027 Recruiting Run

Moss, a top-100 prospect in the 2027 recruiting class, made great strides during his junior season at Jackson Academy. Currently, the stout lineman is the No. 3 prospect in the state of Mississippi, as well as the No. 7-ranked offensive tackle in the 2027 recruiting cycle, per 247Sports’ Composite.

Standing at 6-foot-5, 320 lbs., Moss already possesses a terrific frame that will easily translate to the college level upon his arrival in Columbus. In addition to his incredible size and strength, the highly touted tackle also has recognizable agility off the line of scrimmage, making him a dominant threat in both the pass and run games on offense.

Moss’s strong junior season paved the way for him to be in this year’s Under Armour All-American Game, giving him the opportunity to compete against some of the best prospects in the country.

Now, with Moss joining Day and the Buckeyes’ rich 2027 class, the program is slowly becoming one of the top-ranked schools in the upcoming class. Outside of Jacobs, Brown, and Moss, Ohio State’s 2027 bunch features 12 four-star commits, including a pair of well-regarded EDGE rushers in Wyatt Smith and Prince Goldsby.

Day’s efforts to build up the trenches for the foreseeable future have been clear throughout the 2027 cycle, as Moss now becomes the fifth offensive tackle to commit to the program. While Moss may be the highest-rated commit at his position group, the Buckeyes will likely shift some of the other offensive tackle commits to the interior of the line upon their arrival to campus.
