The Ohio State Buckeyes entered Week 1 of the 2025 college football season ranked No. 3 in the AP Top 25. However, after winning the national championship in 2024, they fell short of expectations.
The Buckeyes’ first loss of the season came against the Indiana Hoosiers in the Big Ten Championship Game. In their next game, they fell to the Miami Hurricanes in the Cotton Bowl Classic, eliminating them from the College Football Playoff.
Now in the offseason, Ohio State has seen its fair share of departures in the transfer portal. The number has risen to 31, with the latest loss coming on Friday.
Cody Haddad, a 5-foot-11 and 186-pound safety out of Cleveland, Ohio, just wrapped up his first year with the Buckeyes. However, as a true freshman, he didn’t record any statistics.
Despite that, he’s still an unfortunate loss for the Buckeyes. Coming out of high school in the 2025 cycle, he was a three-star recruit, the No. 46 safety and the No. 543 player in the nation. He chose the Buckeyes over the Wisconsin Badgers, Cincinnati Bearcats, Nebraska Cornhuskers and Texas A&M Aggies.
However, his time in Columbus is coming to an end. On Friday, CBS Sports’ Chris Hummer reported that Haddad will be entering the transfer portal.

Haddad becomes the fourth safety set to leave the Buckeyes, joining Malik Hartford (UCLA Bruins), Faheem Delane (LSU Tigers) and Keenan Nelson Jr. (uncommitted).
However, for as much talent as Day has lost, he continues to find replacements. Of the 16 incoming players, two are safeties in the form of Terry Moore (Duke Blue Devils) and Earl Little Jr. (Florida State Seminoles).
